Originally housing grocers, the building became the furniture warehouse for J. M. High Co. (whose estate helped found the High Museum of Art) in 1912 and by 1919 it was home to the Georgia Art Supply Co. After a fire in 1925 the top floor was removed, leaving just a three-story building. The building’s longest tenant was the Lewis H. Cottongim Seed Co (1930–80s) whose fixtures are at the Georgia Museum of Agriculture and neon sign is now at the Atlanta History Center.
